ZABS Parents Connect: Navigating the NC Innovations Waiver

October 28 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Free

Demystifying the NC Innovations Waiver: A Parent’s Essential Guide to Services, the Waitlist, and Practical Tips

Join other ZABS Involved Parents for an evening dedicated to one of the most vital resources for young adults with I/DD in North Carolina: the NC Innovations Waiver.

The Innovations Waiver provides Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) that help individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) live more independently in the community. Understanding how to access this resource is essential for your family’s future planning.

Led by Ruth Strunck, former Resource Advocate at The Arc of NC, come learn about:

  • The What and Who: Understand the waiver’s purpose, the services and supports it can fund, and the eligibility criteria for young adults in our community.
  • How to Apply: Walk through the application process and the infamous Waitlist (Registry of Unmet Needs) and how to best position your family while waiting.
  • Insights & Resources: Gather valuable perspectives from experienced parents on common pitfalls, effective advocacy strategies, and essential state and local resources to tap into right now.

This is a must-attend event for any parent looking to navigate the complexities of securing long-term support for their young adult. There will be plenty of time to ask your specific questions and network with other parents.
